History

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office was established in 1825. Over these many years, there have been 31 sheriffs in Jefferson Parish. These individuals have seen enormous changes in their duties, the size and makeup of their offices, the parish citizenship and the type and number of crimes they face each day. Through it all, these individuals have helped the JPSO emerge as one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the state of Louisiana.
