VICTIM BOOKED WITH FALSE SWEARING

Timothy Walters, W/M, 37, of 734 Athania Pkwy in Metairie was booked into the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Correction Center on 4/16/14 on one count of False Swearing.
During the late evening hours of April 12, 2014, First District Patrol Division officers were dispatched to the area of 48th. Street and N. Causeway Blvd in Metairie to investigate a theft of a vehicle and a kidnapping. The victim, identified as Timothy Walters, told investigators he was kidnapped earlier in the evening by a black male subject who was armed with a weapon. Walters reported he stopped to assist the subject jump start his vehicle when the incident occurred. He claimed the suspect forced him at gunpoint into his F-150 pick-up, and was told they "were going for a ride".
On April 14th. Detective Richard Hines of our Robbery Section was assigned the follow-up investigation into this matter. Detective Hines made numerous attempts to interview Timothy Walters, however it wasn't until April 16th. that Walters agreed to meet Detective Hines at the Criminal Investigations Bureau. During the interview, Detective Hines noted numerous inconsistencies in Walters' account of what actually happened on April 12th. As a result, Timothy Walters admitted he fabricated the entire story. Walters told Detective Hines, on April 12th. he loaned his F-150 pick-up to a subject he did not know. He claimed the incident occurred near the intersection of Tulane Avenue and South Carrollton Ave in New Orleans. After the subject did not return with his vehicle, Walters made up the story he reported to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Timothy Walters has a prior criminal history with arrests for Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.
