HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN AVONDALE

On November 15, 2012, around 7:30 p.m., our 911 Center received reports of gunshots in the area of the 300 block of Avondale Garden Road in Avondale. First responding Third Distict Patrol Officers located the body of a male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was lying next to a 1994 Nissan Altima in the driveway of 317 Avondale Garden Road. The victim, identified as Christopher Williams, B/M, 26, of 332 Avondale Garden Road was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a small group of black males standing in the driveway near the Nissan Altima just prior to hearing the gunshots. Immediately following the gunshots, witnesses reported seeing two subjects running from the driveway into an empty field directly across from the 317 address. A third subject was seen running into the home at 317 Avondale Garden Road. Patrol officers entered the 317 address and located the male subject. He was transported to the JPSO Investigations Bureau for questioning by Detective Matt Vasquez.

Crime Scene Technicians recovered a semi-automatic handgun lying next to the victim. A number of spent 9mm shell casing were located along the roadway of Avondale Garden Road.

Homicide investigators have yet to determine a motive, nor have they been able to identify any of the suspects involved.
