Earlier this afternoon, around 2:30, our officers were dispatched to what was first reported and believed to be a medical role in the parking lot of a restaurant at 714 Bonnabel Blvd.
First responding officers arrived on the scene, along with EMS technicians and determined that an adult male and female were experiencing some type of medical problems while sitting inside of their 2014 Toyota Camry. Their two children were located in the backseat of the vehicle. They are only being identified as a four-year-old male and an 11 month old male.
Upon questioning the couple they both admitted to injecting heroin earlier in the day and apparently began experiencing medical problems. The children were removed from the vehicle and were taken to a nearby hospital for observation. They were treated and released into the custody of their grandparents. The two adults, identified as Michael Pierce, W/M, 41 of Alder Lane in Denham Springs and his wife Melanie Pierce W/F, 34 of that same address were placed under arrest and book with one count each of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, along with child endangerment.
After being placed under arrest both suspects admitted they each have a $200 a day heroin addiction. Investigators did find a small amount of heroin inside of the suspects vehicle.
