On July 30, 2014, a concerned citizen in Jefferson Parish notified our office of a posting on “Craigslist”, where it appeared the individual who authored the post, was attempting to sell Heroin through the add. Please see the following link for the actual post: http://neworleans.craigslist.org/for/4594595104.html..
As a result, agents from of the Jefferson Parish Narcotics Division and the Gretna Major Crimes Task Force acted immediately by responding to the post. It was obvious to the agents that a street name attached to Heroin, referred to as “dog food” was what the seller was offering. On July 31st., arrangements were made by our agents to meet and purchase from the “seller” three bags of “dog food”, at a supermarket parking lot in Metairie. Soon thereafter, a subject identified as Geral Bowman, B/M, 24, of 4917 Saint Claude Avenue in New Orleans, exited the front passenger side of a 2007 GMC Sierra Z71. Upon Bowman meeting with the agents, he discarded three plastic bags containing a tan powdery substance and fled on foot. He was apprehended without incident in the 3700 block of Powers Blvd.
The driver of the pickup, which was occupied by an additional occupant drove away and was followed by assisting agents. An investigatory stop was made on the GMC at Power Blvd. and West Esplanade Ave. Agents discovered additional tan powdery substance in plain view within the vehicle. As a result the driver, Michael Zeringue, W/M, 32, of 233 Cypress Lane in Slidell and a passenger, identified as Avion Nelson, B/M, 24, of 7130 Pinebrook Drive in New Orleans were placed under arrest without incident. A search warrant was executed on the vehicle which resulted in the recovery of a 380 Cal. Semi-auto handgun with an obliterated serial number.
Geral Bowman was booked into the JPCC with Possession with the Intent to Distribute 9 grams of heroin, Conspiracy to Distribute 3 grams of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm in the presence of a CDS, and Possession of an Unidentifiable Firearm.
Avion Nelson and Michael Zeringue were booed into the JPCC with Possession with the Intent to Distribute 6 grams of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm in the presence of a CDS, and Possession of an Unidentifiable Firearm.
In the attached photos, Bowman is the individual wearing a white tee shirt.
