Sheriff Newell Normand reports that at approximately 10:50pm on August 8, 2017, Third District deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Ames Boulevard and 6th Avenue in Marrero in reference to a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian. Arriving units located a black female lying in the roadway. The female, a 33-year-old resident of Marrero, was suffering from a number of injuries that were consistent with being struck by a vehicle. She was transported to University Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
There is no suspect vehicle information available at this time.
