Sheriff Newell Normand announces the arrest of Freddie Fourcha, 37, of New Orleans, in reference to a robbery that occurred early this morning.
At approximately 2:23 am, First District deputies responded to a convenience store located in the 300 block of Veterans Boulevard. The victim, the store’s clerk, advised deputies that a black male entered the store and demanded property from him. The victim surrendered an undisclosed amount of money and several packs of cigarettes to the suspect, who then fled the location on foot. The victim provided a detailed clothing description of the suspect.
Deputy Alan Flettrich was one of a number of deputies who quickly responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspect. He located Fourcha a couple of blocks away, dressed as the victim described. Upon making contact with Fourcha, it was found that he was in possession of the same amount of money and same quantity and brand of cigarettes taken from the store. He was detained, and later identified by the victim as the individual who committed the robbery.
Fourcha was arrested and booked with one count of simple robbery. A photograph of Fourcha will be forwarded when available.
